I was the primary material maker for the entire game of Aliens: Fireteam Elite. Working iteratively with our lighting artist I recreated materials for our hive to fit better into our lighting workflow. The initial materials, worked wonderfully in a specific way that needed to be modified to work in broader lighting scenarios. Built from the ground up, Leif and I went back and forth with lighting and materials to get these materials to play nice with being just the correct amount of darkness while still supporting gameplay.
